Colour Trends for Hair A/W 14

Life’s more fun when you add colour… and it’s especially true when it comes to your hair this Autumn.

We asked our talented young colourists to choose their favourite trends from the international runways this A/W 14…

Take your colour cue from nature

Donna Karan and Valentino both put the spotlight on a polished look with their gleaming models’ hair catching the light with a naturally inspired palette of cashmere, stone, suede and sand.

Pure’s stylist Florrie advises, “If your skin tones need a more vibrant, warm colour then look no further than the rose-gold hues and soft coppers which graced the catwalks of London Fashion Week. Or, if you prefer something a little stronger, try a very wearable burnished brunette.”

Ombré hair is here to stay

“Inspired by catwalks, celebrities and street-style ombré hair is still a strong trend,” explains Charlotte. “The trick this season is to use unusual colour combinations and take this stylish contemporary look to the next level.”

Chalky pastels flatter

Express your personality through your hair colour says Nicole. “The colour we choose for our hair is as much a statement about ourselves as our clothes. And nothing says trend-savvy like diffused pastel shades. Choose chalky and soft or add a flash of stronger colour for a fashion-forward look that will take you through the winter months.”

Cool shades of platinum are hot, hot, hot

Blondes are the big catwalk story. “Blonde hues at Vivienne Westwood show were full-on shiny and glamorous” says Lorna. “Platinum is the colour of the season without a doubt. Our spring photographic shoot model, Chloe-Jasmine Whichello, showcased the vintage platinum look on her recent X Factor appearances.”

If high impact ice- blonde is too 1950’s Hollywood starlet for you or you just don’t fancy those high maintenance roots Lorna suggests you opt for warmer golden blonde shades.
